The Mountain Talks

The Event

Pause your busy life for three days days to step back in time in historic McCloud as you immerse yourself in cultural, educational, social, and recreational experiences.

Mountain Talks speaks to those who value life-long learning, love of nature, sustainability, health & wellness, conservation, music, storytelling, and the arts. Respite, enrichment, and community are among the benefits of attending a Mountain Talks event. The beautiful alpine setting lends itself to discussion, immersion, and inspiration.

Topics of Mountain Talks have a local, regional and global reach. The themes for the 2019 Mountain Talks event include Sustainability, Health & Wellness, and Natural Resources.

2019 Event Themes

Health & Wellness

All of us lead busy lives. What are ways we can find balance, discover a sense of inner peace and feel we are caring for self in order to have the energy to care for others? How do we discover joy in everyday living and passion in our work? Our Health & Wellness presenters share what they have learned so you can apply this knowledge at home.

Sustainability is a term that can be broadly applied. Why should we support sustainable agriculture? How can we create sustainable economies? What are ways we can live a sustainable lifestyle and support others who seek to provide sustainable options that serve a macro environment? Learn from our sustainability experts how you can apply sustainable practices where you live.

Natural Resources

From the tiniest insect or flower to a giant river or mountain, natural resources surround us and are especially evident in the areas surrounding our great mountain, Mt. Shasta. Learn how these resources can be used, how they foretell the effects of climate change and how nature adapts.
